As a newly assimilated senior management team, the vision is to develop strategies that allow the organization to build on defining product and service solutions within North American markets. The team’s focus is on developing internal operational and cost efficiencies and on building strong leaders that are effective in promoting and bringing about significant change. Senior management is striving to create a culture that reflects that though they are small division of an international conglomerate, they are a part of the international organization and able to contribute fiscally, adding to overall profitability, and offering global career opportunities to its employees. The Vice President of HR will be a key member of the senior management team and work closely with the CEO and COO to provide leadership and guidance this evolving executive team.

Position Objective:

Establishes and directs the Human Resources function for the divisions North American Operations, including management of the United States headquarters and other locations. As a member of the senior management team, he/she must work closely with other members of senior management to build an HR function that advances the business strategy and grows the organization. Additionally, this position must proactively and effectively represent the organization in its interfaces with other divisions within the parent and holding company

Experience Required:

The candidate must have ten to fifteen year of broad based generalist experience in human resource management. They must have a career progression that demonstrates successful experience in managing all aspects of Human Resources, including organizational development, succession planning, training, compensation and benefits, recruitment and employee relations. He/she must have developed strong and positive working relationships with the most senior levels of the organization and have acted in an advisory/coaching role with members of the senior management team. The successful candidate will have strong business acumen and an approach to human resource management that is based on being a strategic business partner with the rest of the senior team, and developing an understanding of how HR integrates into all levels of the organization and across all functions areas.

Experiences will include driving the design and implementation of innovative programs that advance the business and help build a stronger organization, programs such as; pay for performance, short and long term incentives, succession planning, recruitment strategies and communications programs. He/she must have a good understanding and knowledge of federal and state legal and regulatory requirements. Experience within a highly technical, engineering-oriented industry is desirable. Additionally, experience with an international company and a strong understanding of a large, multinational, highly matrixed organizational structure is needed. A limited amount of domestic and some international travel is required.

The candidate must have exceptional leadership and communication skills, with an innate sense to think strategically and execute against a strategy. He/she must provide a strong personal professional presence.

The successful candidate will be a very strong team player and work hand in hand with the COO to develop a highly effective senior management team. Excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to analyze and draw conclusions are required.

This individual must be able to function as a dynamic change agent and be able to add value to the change process. The candidate must be assertive and enthusiastic about advancing and debating new ideas and programs, while remaining flexible and seeking out an open dialogue and a full exchange of ideas and opinions. He/she must be able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
