Client: The client is a significant manufacturer of home building surface materials used in a variety of applications including countertops, vanities, floors and a variety of other surfacing. This is a privately held, young organization, headquartered in the Midwest, well positioned for significant growth. . Position Location: Western US Region Reports to: Position Objective : Manage and direct the sales force for the Western US Region of the country for the sale of the company's products. This newly created position provides leadership for driving sales techniques and sales programs that achieve sales and profit goals for the region and drive growth. Education: This position requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related area. Experience and Skills Required: For consideration, individuals must have a minimum of seven to ten years of experience in the product sales and marketing field, with three years in a significant sales management role. Prior experience in building materials, construction related industries would be a plus. The successful candidate will bring to the table dynamic sales and marketing experience from highly competitive markets. He/she must have very strong administrative and organizational skills and effective problem solving abilities. Potential candidate’s experience base will have included significant knowledge of sales concepts, field sales practices and procedures, sales channel structures, including distributor networks, and customer relations. He/she will bring the capabilities needed to effectively implement a sales plan and a proven track record of maintaining customer relationships. Previous experience will include a demonstrated ability to develop and close on new business opportunities and establish distribution networks that consistently increased the level of sales, market share and profitability. This includes a strong ability to present business development opportunities to management for review of costs, capital expenditure and other pertinent data. This position requires an energetic, dynamic, personally motivated, and results driven leader that is growth oriented and profit driven. He/she will demonstrate focus, strong analytical, problem solving skills and the ability to decisively manage and drive to results that impact the bottom line. The successful candidate must be a naturally hard worker and an effective team player, as both a leader and participant. Their personal style must include using open and direct communication and managing through motivation and team-building. Experience at training, motivating and directing an efficient sales force is an absolute requirement. He/she must have the capability of understanding broad engineering and operational processes and their relevance to the features and benefits of the products and the ability to translate those into effective sales elements. The successful candidate will possess the qualities of an entrepreneur spirit and but also have the clear ability and willingness to follow direction and take on the charge, even when he/she might have preferred a different approach. This position requires an individual who understands the balance needed between structure and bureaucracy. He/she must have a comfort level with managing the dynamics of a new company culture and helping to build out the required organization structure and processes that will be needed. This individual will be the type of leader who is constantly driving toward the next customer and never satisfied with the status quo.
