The client is a $450M globally positioned manufacturer of semi-finished, nonwoven composite film used in a variety of industrial and consumer goods markets that serve a variety of sectors, including healthcare, industrial, construction, personal hygiene, packaging and agriculture. They are well positioned for growth with significant and extensive research and development capabilities, a global customer base and manufacturing plants throughout the world. They are strategically located in high-growth regions in Europe, the Far East, and North and South America, thus enabling them to reduce costs and time to market. Operations are tactically placed to provide versatile capabilities and allow production of a broad selection of product offerings and customized solutions, as well as having the technical expertise and state of the art technology to address customers’ needs. The client company is owned by a publicly held corporation.

Position Objective:
This newly created Business Unit Manager position provides P&L general management oversight and leadership, significantly growing the surface protection business, serving as the driver to identifying new markets, and extensively increasing volumes, revenues and operating profits. This individual will effectively manage key customer relationships and account management, sales administration, R&D, new product development and market initiatives, and pricing. He/she will be the key stakeholder, in concert with Operations, on the establishment of a new cleanroom manufacturing environment, and in building a supporting culture and infusing a TQM mindset within the organization.

Education:
Bachelors in Science, Business or Engineering required. MBA preferred.
Experience and Skills Required:
Ten to fifteen plus years of B2B global consumer goods manufacturing experience, in a variety of broad-based positions that have encompassed functional accountability for Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering/R&D and Operations in high growth technology driven, high margin consumer products with a focus on identifying new applications and launching new markets. The last five to seven years will have been in a senior management role, preferably a Business Unit Leader position, managing a minimum P&L of greater than $50M in a fast paced, dynamic and growing product area. This position requires an understanding and experience in managing a cleanroom manufacturing environment; equipment setup and operation, as well as establishing Standard Operating Procedures and processes. Brings strong knowledge and experience of cleanroom techniques and how they are applied to all levels of manufacturing capabilities. He/she will have a track record of using and championing various continuous improvement, lean manufacturing tools and propagating a Total Quality Management environment, by serving as the Total Quality Management (TQM) technical expert in support of the Quality Enhancement. Additionally, this opportunity requires knowledge and capabilities for successfully managing a significant growth path and all the specifics that go with that process; managing new resources, keeping customer service and quality levels in line, positioning the organization to assimilate these new challenges and changes, etc. The candidate will have significant international experience with a strong background in Asia and, in particular, a familiarity with Japanese markets and their business culture.
With this experience comes a proven success in improving efficiency, reducing costs, improving quality, and generating sales growth. Specific experience within plastics, coatings, and film products sector is desirable. Career experiences must include working with and managing Fortune 100 multi-national customers, and as such, a strong understanding for value versus commodity pricing.
