Location: Southeastern US Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing Client: The client is a large manufacturing firm with production facilities in the US and Canada, employing approximately 2,000 employees. They have an extensive customer base with products that are highly customized. Markets include construction, transportation, electrical, distribution and consumer durable goods. Net sales in 2002 were over $350 million. The company is owned by a publicly held corporation with total revenues of $750M. The objective of this strategic marketing role is to help affect a cultural shift in the organization from traditional manufacturing to a market driven, customer focused, value added organization. This position will be pivotal in repositioning the company for growth and higher profit levels, by driving new business development, identifying new market opportunities and customer needs in both domestic and international markets. He/she will be responsible for directing key marketing activities such as research and analysis, market segmentation, competitive analysis, and the development of strategic marketing initiatives and supporting marketing materials and communication plans. Qualified candidates must have a bachelors degree in Marketing or a Business degree with an emphasis in Marketing. An MBA is preferred. The successful candidate will come from an industrial marketing background with a minimum of seven to ten years of strategic marketing. The candidate must demonstrate competence and experience in all aspects of classic marketing principles to gain market insight, create a strategic focus, champion ideas and demonstrate market leadership. Additionally, he/she must have a minimum of two years helping to build and lead a strong marketing department. His/her background will include roles within the sales organization and/or business development. Experience must include serving as a change agent to the organization, helping to drive a repositioning of a company towards a market focus with verifiably significant results. This individual must have strong analytical skills that include product placement, promotion, pricing, and competitive analysis. A strong personal presence that reflects knowledge and credibility, as well as strong presentation skills is required. He/she will have a growth mentality, entrepreneurial spirit and proven strategic abilities. They will effectively coach, mentor and energize their staff. Lastly, the candidate will have a passion for their work, deriving enjoyment and renewed vitality from the challenges of driving significant change in a traditional organization. |
